The Mission

Empowering UAE youth to lead the circular economy by transforming aluminium waste into sustainable resources

The Infinite Loop

1. Collection: Community Drives

Every successful cycle begins with the community. Through We Can UAE, Ethan organizes dedicated collection drives and school workshops to ensure that aluminium cans are rescued from landfills. By gathering these cans at the source, we prevent environmental contamination and ensure a steady stream of “Silver Gold” for the recycling process.

2. Processing: Shredding and Melting

Once collected, the cans undergo a high-tech transformation.

  • Shredding & Purification: The cans are cleaned and shredded into small pieces to remove any external coatings or impurities.
  • The 95% Energy Save: These shreds are then melted down in a furnace. This process is the core of the “95% Effect” because melting existing aluminium requires only 5% of the energy needed to create new metal from raw ore.

3. Remaking: New Cans in 60 Days

The molten aluminium is cast into large ingots and rolled into thin sheets. These sheets are then used to manufacture brand-new cans.

Zero Waste: This loop ensures that the metal stays in use and out of the UAE’s natural landscapes forever.

Rapid Return: This entire journey—from the moment you place a can in a recycling bin to the moment it reappears on a store shelf as a new product—can take as little as 60 days.

Scientific Analysis

The 95% Energy Saving Rule: Recycling aluminium requires only 5% of the energy needed to create new metal from raw bauxite ore. This massive reduction helps lower the overall demand on the UAE’s national power grid.

Bauxite Conservation: Every ton of aluminium recycled saves four tons of bauxite (raw ore). By reducing mining, we protect natural landscapes and prevent the destruction of diverse ecosystems.

CO2 Emission Reduction: For every ton of aluminium produced from recycled material, we prevent 9 tons of CO2 emissions from entering the atmosphere. This is a critical step toward the UAE’s “Net Zero by 2050” strategic initiative.

Chemical Stability: Because aluminium is a “permanent material,” its atomic structure does not degrade during the melting process, allowing it to be recycled infinitely with zero loss in quality.

Eco- Economic Benefits

Landfill Diversion

Reducing the Burden on UAE Waste Management Every aluminium can we recover is a victory for our local environment. By diverting these “permanent materials” from landfills, we reduce soil contamination and free up critical space in the UAE’s waste management infrastructure. Our mission is to ensure that no aluminium is ever treated as “trash” when it can be reused as a resource.

Energy Security

Saving Power for the National Grid Recycling is an energy strategy. Because remelting aluminium is 95% more efficient than extracting it from ore, we are effectively “saving” electricity for the nation. This energy efficiency supports the UAE’s commitment to lowering industrial power consumption and diversifying our energy resources for a more secure future.

Green Jobs

Supporting the UAE’s Transition to a Sustainable Economy The circular economy is the future of work. By promoting local recycling loops, we support the growth of the green technology sector in the UAE. Our project empowers youth with the knowledge and skills needed to lead a sustainable economy, creating new opportunities in environmental management, science, and green manufacturing.

Call To Action

Beyond The Can

Why Aluminium??

Aluminium is 100% recyclable. Unlike plastic, which degrades, aluminium can be melted down and remade forever. This makes it the perfect material for a Circular Economy.

The 95% Rule: Recycling one aluminium can saves 95% of the energy required to make a new one from raw materials.

The Power of One: One recycled aluminium can saves enough energy to run a TV for three hours or a laptop for nearly an hour.

Infinite Loop: Aluminium is a “permanent” material. It can be recycled indefinitely without ever losing its quality or physical properties.

Speed to Shelf: A recycled can can be back on the store shelf as a brand-new can in as little as 60 days.

Still in Use: Roughly 75% of all aluminium ever produced is still in use today because it is so valuable to recycle.

Landfill Savings: For every ton of aluminium we recycle, we save up to 8 cubic meters of landfill space in the UAE.

Carbon Footprint: Recycling 1 ton of aluminium prevents the emission of 9 tons of CO2 into our atmosphere.

Collection. Ethan organizes community drives to rescue cans from landfills.

Transformation. The cans are melted down, using 95% less energy than creating new metal from ore.

New Life. In as little as 60 days, that same aluminium is back on the shelf as a brand-new can.
